Archbishop Desmond Tutu

As part of Salisbury International Arts Festival’s Peace weekend, Archbishop Desmond Tutu visited Salisbury and was interviewed on 7th June by ITV journalist and broadcaster Mark Austin. The interview took place in the City Hall, with a couple of our Jogya chairs creating a perfect and comfortable setting for a fascinating conversation!

A Salisbury audience was treated to an evening of witty and entertaining song and music by the talented duo Harry and Stewart Collins. The show was sponsored by Fair Trade Furniture Co Ltd, one of whose quirky chairs sneaked its way on to the stage!

The First Feel-Good Fair Trade Lounge

Salisbury market square played host to the first ever Feel-good Fair Trade Lounge on June 24th 2008. Shoppers were pleasantly surprised to be offered a chance to sit in the Fair Trade Furniture’s comfy chairs and enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee and snack (all Fair Trade) courtesy of Country Foods. Visitors to the marquee included new Mayor of Salisbury, Mrs Iris Evans, Chairman of Salisbury Council Bobbie Chettleburgh, and hundreds of market-day shoppers! Each went away with a goody-bag kindly provided by the event sponsors (Fair Trade Furniture, The India Shop and Country Coffee) and various other local Fair Trade businesses. Similar events are now being planned for Winchester and Guildford over the summer.>>
