Meet the Makers

Meet the people who have created these wonderful pieces of furniture!

Mokko International
Mokko are responsible for all our products in the Semarang and Jepara ranges. They are based in a small town called Kendal, outside the city of Semarang, on the North coast of Java.

Working conditions are excellent in this small but modern factory, which specialises in production of wooden structures for modular homes. Skilled rattan weavers from the furniture-making centre of Jepara have joined the Mokko team in Kendal so that the products can be made in one location, under one roof.

Tommy Fredriksson
General Manager of Mokko and an active player in the Fair Trade movement for over 25 years. He is also Swedish but has lived in Indonesia ever since he gave up his career as a semi-professional footballer on the island of Hawaii!! He is our Fair Trade champion on the North coast of Java, and manages all the local activities involved in the Semarang and Jepara ranges.

Inori
Inori (Indonesia Origin) are based in Jogyakarta. They are a Fair Trade agency established in June 2004 with the aim of facilitating micro-small producers to access markets through trading activities. “Based on fair trade principles, Inori works together with micro-small producers (and some upper scale producers) to achieve successful business.“

They manage and co-ordinate the producer groups involved in the production of our Jogya, Kartosuro, Bantul and Solo ranges.

Foremost amongst these is the Kisno workshop in Trangsan (Kartosuro region) where this small family business continues the long-standing weaving tradition of the area. Another significant producer is the Different Abilities group (based in Bantul) who make seat frames and wooden components for the Inori ranges.

Deddy Heriyanto is General Manager of Inori, and our other main partner on the ground in Java.
