Salisbury market square played host to the first ever Feel-good Fair Trade Lounge on June 24th 2008. Shoppers were pleasantly surprised to be offered a chance to sit in the Fair Trade Furniture’s comfy chairs and enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee and snack (all Fair Trade) courtesy of Country Foods. Visitors to the marquee included new Mayor of Salisbury, Mrs Iris Evans, Chairman of Salisbury Council Bobbie Chettleburgh, and hundreds of market-day shoppers! Each went away with a goody-bag kindly provided by the event sponsors (Fair Trade Furniture, The India Shop and Country Coffee) and various other local Fair Trade businesses. Similar events are now being planned for Winchester and Guildford over the summer.
